Curious about birds and the incredible species we have here in the Pacific Northwest? Join professional naturalist and experienced birder Kate Brown for a relaxed Sunday morning bird walk. We will chat about what to look and listen for while birding, discuss some of the common species we are likely to spot at Stimpson Nature Reserve and what makes them unique- then meander the trails while birding and chatting. Bring your coffee, donuts, and any binoculars you might have (I own a few to share- but we should be able to appreciate birds up close even without them).
Common Species Include…
Barred Owls
Wood Ducks
Red-breasted Sapsuckers
Pileated, Downy, and Hairy Woodpeckers
Corvids including: Ravens, Crows and Steller’s Jays
All abilities welcome- The trails we will be exploring are a mixture of different inclines, and the trail substrate is mostly hard packed dirt- we will move slowly and take frequent observation breaks. There are bathroom facilities at the trail head. Ages 16+ ( Families with kids, check back in, as I regularly host all-ages/family-friendly walks as well)
