Curious about birding and the incredible species we have here in the Pacific Northwest, but not sure where to start? Join us for a relaxed introductory bird walk at Whatcom Falls. We will chat about what to look and listen for while birding, discuss some of the common species we are likely to spot in this park and what makes them unique, and review the best ways to use binoculars- then meander the trails while birding and chatting. Bring any binoculars you might have (I own a few to share!). This park is frequented by Belted Kingfishers, Osprey, and diverse songbirds.

Location+Accessibility Note: We will be meeting at the Wiley Slough in Skagit County (21961 Wylie Rd, Mount Vernon, WA 98273), which is about a 40 minute drive from downtown Bellingham. The entirety of the trail is completely flat packed dirt/gravel, and there are bathroom facilities at the trail head. Ages 18+

Binocular Donation: If you happen to own any pairs of functional binoculars that you no longer use, we are always accepting donations so that we have quality pairs to loan out to participants, helping us keep birding as accessible as possible for everyone in our community.
