Queer Birders Club: Fir Island Reserve

Join other nature loving queer folks for a monthly bird walk guided by queer naturalist and experienced birder, Kate Brown. Come find your flock!

The Queer Birders Club is for queer birders of all ability levels. Whether you're brand new to birding or a seasoned pro, this is a safe space to be yourself, have fun, and get curious about birds with other nature-loving queer folks! Walks are always facilitated by queer naturalist andbirder Kate Brown, who has over a decade of experience running birding and nature connection programs for folks of all ages. Bring your coffee, a donut, and your coziest outdoor clothes to join us outside every month of the year!

We typically meets from 9-10:30am the last Sunday of every month.

Species commonly sighted here include:

  • Snow Geese

  • Tundra Swans

  • A Wide Variety of Winter Ducks

  • Great Blue Gerons

  • Northern Harriers

Accessibility Note: We will be meeting at Fir Island Farm Rerserve in Skagit County, which is about a 40 minute drive from downtown Bellingham. The entirety of the fail is completely flat packed dirt/gravel, and there are bathroom facilities at the trailhead. Ages16+ (check back in, as I also host all-ages/family-friendly walks as well)
