Sunday Morning Bird Walk: Winter Birds of Lake Padden

Click Here to Register on Eventbrite
Curious about the incredible winter Bird species we have here in Bellingham? Join professional naturalist and experienced birder Kate Brown for a relaxed Sunday morning bird walk around Lake Padden. We will chat about what to look and listen for while birding, discuss some of the common species we are likely to spot and what makes them unique- then set out with our binoculars to see what amazing birds we can spot! Bring your coffee, donuts, and any binoculars you might have (I own a few to share!)

Species commonly sighted here include:

  • Diverse winter ducks including: Goldeneye, Scaup, Canvasbacks and Bufflehead

  • Great Blue Herons

  • Bald Eagles

  • Red-breasted Nuthatch, Chickadees, and Brown Creepers

Accessibility Note: We will be meeting at the covered pavilion near the Lake Padden Playground, accessible using the east entrance to the park. After turning off Samish Way onto Lake shore drive, continue driving until you can park near the playground- if you hit the dogpark youv'e gone too far. The entirety of the trail is flat packed dirt/gravel, and there are bathroom facilities at the trailhead. Ages16+
